The shortest b-log ever
Indigo - Hyde Park Square
A bottle of wine is about $12 on Wednesday nights. My dinner with Jeannette was canceled, so I called Leslie up to see if she had plans. Work was stressful that day and I needed to diffuse. She suggested Indigo because it's an easy walk from where we live and since the temperature had finnaly surpassed freezing we decided to enjoy the weather, try a new place and indulge in half priced wine.
Leslie is a wonderful restaurant companion. We never lack for conversation. This city doesn't provide much fodder, but after our Wine Party adventure at the CAC, we had plenty of things to discuss. It was a Taps-esque evening...complete with Friday morning hangover and many gossip-worthy occurances. We had much to chat about.
The menu at Indigo is huge. Both of us were lost among the many things we wanted to order. Before the waiter brought our waters, we knew we wanted to come back here. It was ash wednesday, so i was searching for vegetarian options and there were plenty to choose from. I had a hummus and avocado grilled wrap, that was toasty, creamy and all around awesome. Leslie had a veggie calzone that looked totally indulgent. And did I mention that we got an entire bottle of wine for $12?
Indigo is on the western edge of Hyde Park square. Its casual atmosphere is much overshadowed by the pretentious steak and seafood places lining the rest of the square. Hence the reason I had hardly ever noticed it, much less tried it before. It's a simple place, as if the furniture and design were created by the Ikea people. The prices are totally reasonable. Two people could definitely eat here, with wine, for less than $50.
I'm not sure if I'm ready to call it "that" place yet. Leslie and I have already decided that there are many more Wednesday wine nights in our future at Indigo. So, the verdict is still out.
And if it is that place...well, I guess I'll alter my b-log focus to the best breakfast place in Cincy. (which is actually my house on a sunday morning where eggs and pancakes are involved....but I digress).
Is this that place? B's review:
Chillness: Neighborhood chill, like everyone walked here.
Price: Priced well enough to eat here every Wednesday night.
Food Quality: Happiness all over the menu. Standard foods with tasty twists.
